I once worked at a car rental company that shall remain nameless. Guy shows up with a reservation for a luxury car for $80 for the weekend. I point out that the reservation is for a luxury car for $80 PER DAY, not per weekend. He pulls out his reservation from Joey Joe Joe's Internet Travelcade that sure enough says he can get our luxury car for $80 for the weekend and this is the "lowest price available." It sure was the lowest price available, because it didn't exist. Joey Joe Joe's took our daily rate, unbeknownst to us, advertised it as a weekend rate and sold 'em by the dozen. I can only imagine what the phone calls sounded like in that dark basement. Travelocity most likely booked you seats at a rate that didn't exist. The seats always cost $2300. When Travelocity realized they were about to eat $1K twelve hours later, they canceled your reservation and sprung the bad news. It's their fault for advertising non-existent rates to begin with...
